CHSE Illinois ESEA Waiver Application and Engagement Webinar
Campaign for High School Equity (CHSE) hosted, in a webinar on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, to discuss the State of Illinois's Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) February waiver application and engagement process. State Education Superintendent Dr. Christopher Koch and Dr. Monique Chism Division Administrator of Innovation and Improvement participated on behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education.
During this Webinar, state and local advocates and community activists representing communities of color:
- Reviewed what Illinois plans to submit as part of its ESEA waiver application
- Explored the role state and local civil rights advocates should play in the state’s ESEA application process, as required by federal guidelines; and
- Discussed with the Illinois state superintendent how the civil rights community has been engaged in the waiver application and share recommendations for how to continue this engagement throughout the entire process.
